Poker is a game of probability with a little bit of luck. Most good poker players will figure out the odds and take them into account when it is time for them to decide whether or not they will continue betting on a particular hand. The theory behind pot odds is to compare what the odds of completing a hand are, to the possible earnings a pot has to offer. Want to learn more? Pokerstars Net has it all.
It seems that everytime a pokerstars net player experiences a bad beat, the opponent who won always gets tainted a "loose" player. It seems that it is "bad" to be lucky. A bad beat always seems to be followed by, "How could you call that?" or "you raised with pocket Jacks?". Some pokerstarsnet players cannot get a hold of the fact that there is luck involved with this game.
So let us agree for the sake of agreeing, that there is a lot of luck involved in pokerstars net. OK good. So here's the question. Who has the reputation as being a lucky pokerstars net player? We asked 10 of the top poker players in the world this question and they suprisingly, all agreed on one person. Franky Cappucino. We asked Franky Cappucino about his pokerstars net luck and he replied coyly, "someone has to be the luckiest, it just so happens to be me. Unfortunately, being pegged as a lucky player, people lose respect for the fact that I am a good pokerstarsnet player."
Making a move on someone (bluffing) should come at times when you sense weakness, you haveouts, and it is worth risk. Winning his blind is not one of the situations worth risking this many pokerstarsnet chips. If there is enough in the pot to risk your chips with, you have possible outs in order to win if you are behind in the online pokerstars hand at the current time, and your read tells you that he is not strong and may lay it down, then it is worth it. One last thing. When doing this, you have to realize who you are doing it against. Early in tournaments and at ring games and such people will call with almost anything, thinking that you are bluffing. You may know someone is bluffing, but in essence he may end up having bottom pair, inside straight draw, or such a hand. Know who you are playing against first and foremost.
You know this pokerstarsnet player, especially with everyone folding to him, would have raised with any Ace on the button. He has been doing it the whole pokerstars tournament. With this over-bet you believe that he is merely trying to steal. However, if you call this bet, you may be in a position where you must hit runner-runner cards in order to win the poker hand. When you are going to raise someone based upon sensed weakness, you want to make sure you have outs incase your read is wrong. Such situations when a person might have a straight draw, flush draw, etc. are called "semi-bluffs." Knowing your outs and chances of hitting them is very crucial. So the question is, what do you do? In the situation above, it is more than likely better for you to let him have your 200 blind and just let it go. This goes along with playing tight-aggressive, and choosing your spots wisely. Why waste 600 plus a turn bet plus a river bet when you are possibly drawing for runner-runner to win the 400 in the pot.
Many pokerstars net players love to play other players regardless of what he has himself. While many of the professionals can do this, it is very difficult to do this at the amateur level. When bluffing because you sense the other pokerstars net player is bluffing as well, making sure you have outs is a must. By outs I mean one card that could come that could put you ahead in the hand. Many times such things will happen as follows:
Well that was the kick start I needed and knew if I could keep up that level of play I could happily beat the low stakes pokerstars net tables. I am now consistantly making money on those said tables but I still have some leaks and bad plays I keep making to iron out. I would definatly say to anyone thinking about it to give it a shot. Get hold of a pokerstars net book, read it through, cash some money into a site and get playing. If your disiplined and patient then you can easily take some extra income each month, or at least have a fun hobby to while away the evening.
Going back to the beginning of the year I recalled how I managed to build up $500 with some success playing online pokerstars. Earlier this month I went back onto Williamhill where I had my $100 and played in some sit and gos. Some close calls and going out first got to me a bit. Frustration was setting in when I noticed that there was a Pokerstarsnet tournament about to start. I payed out the $11 entry and played some nice tight agressive poker. I got lucky on 2 hands but I had both time the opponent covered easily in chips. I ended up coming 2nd and cashing in $400.
Over the summer I decided I wanted to learn about the art of bluffing. I couldn't find much in the way of resources at the time. I managed to pick up the rules and some vague idea on starting pokerstars hands. With my new knowledge and foolhardy expectations I went and sat down on an online pokerstars table. Wow was it tedious, so many people playing for so many draws, waiting for the nuts was taking its toll. Anything other than pokerstarsnet is really not for the undisiplined. After getting fed up of that thought I would give pot limit a go. Started off really well, scooping some really big pots, building the stack up nice and high. Trouble was I started feeling like I couldn't lose, slackened up on the starting hands, kept making really silly raises on draws that I shouldn't have and again lost a lot as well.
Now that felt great, but you don't need me to tell you that. About this time though I went full time at work and it significantly cut down on my playing time. I stayed hovering around the 500 mark for a while until I got to the point I didn't really have much time to spend playing online pokerstars at all. Over the coming months I dabbled here and there staying about even. Now a big mistake I made was playing pokerstars net after getting in from the pub. Some big losses happened as a result of that, something I endevour not to repeat!
In doing this, you can keep track and hopefully control yourself enough to not blow all your spare money. I also had a bet on with a friend of mine that I would never make $500 playing pokerstarsnet and it was a waste of time. Now not one to shirk a challege I made it more interesting and said that I could do it in a month. Well the weeks rolled by and low and hehold at the end of the month I had made just over $500.
I had just bought some pokerstars net books as well and gave these a read through. I went to play limit holdem instead of nolimit. I did find it was a lot slower to build up chips, but on the other hand I didn't blow the whole lot on a silly all in bluff. If your starting out I recommend buying one of the lowlimit books and just stick to that. Also set limits how much you are willing to lose in one go. This should hopefully stop you from playing too long in a game thats bad for you, or losing too much when you go on tilt (playing badly).
With that in mind I now needed to decide where to take the plunge. After speaking to a friend of mine, I signed up at Pokerstars net. The advantage of this place being I could cash in and out using my debit card. Started off playing the low nolimit pokerstarsnet tables. I managed to build up my stack rather well for a while and got ahead of myself. Moved onto larger limit tables and lost the lot. Still $10 wasn't much to spend for the fun I had. I have on numourous occasions spent more than that on an awful night out.
A few years had passed by this point and after getting ill and not working decided to knock it on the head as I didn't have any money to spare to lose. I then saw some more pokerstars net on TV and that sparked it off again. Was reading various different poker sites and since I was working again, decided it was time to pick up where I left off. ![]()
